Aaron Finch, Australia’s T20 captain, became the sixth batter to reach 10,000 runs in this format, with 10,048 runs in 327 innings. Finch is only a few hundredths of a second from Indian Test captain Virat Kohli’s record of 10,204 in 307.
The right-handed hitter set the record while scoring 68 runs in 43 balls for the Melbourne Renegades against the Perth Scorchers, including five sixes and four fours. The Renegades, on the other hand, were defeated by the Scorchers, who won by 21 runs thanks to Mitchell Marsh’s 53-ball 86.
Finch, who was playing in his first BBL-11 encounter, hammered five sixes, including some that landed in the second deck of the stadium, as he and Nic Maddinson put up 130 for the second wicket, surpassing Finch and Brad Hodge’s 126 in BBL-1.
Chris Gayle of the Universe Boss leads the T20 run-scoring rankings with 14,321 runs in 445 innings, with fellow West Indian Kieron Pollard in second place with 11,326 runs in 508 innings. With 11,274 runs in 426 innings, former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik is third, while Finch’s Australian colleague David Warner is fourth with 10,308 runs in 312 innings. In T20 cricket, the 35-year-old Australian opener has eight hundred, including a career-best 172 off 76 balls against Zimbabwe in 2018. In a T20 international against England in Southampton in 2013, Finch hit 156 from 70 balls.
