Fri. May 20th, 2022

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) have confirmed England’s trip to the West Indies in 2022, which will include five Twenty20 Internationals and three Test matches. The series will be England’s first-ever bilateral five-match T20I series against the Caribbean. Furthermore, the Test matches will be included in the ICC World Test Championship.

All five Twenty20 International matches will be played in Barbados during a nine-day span from January 22 to 30 in 2022. While England is currently ranked first in the world in the shortest format, the West Indies are a strong unit in this format, with some cricket analysts and pundits backing them to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2021.

In reality, the two teams were the 2016 T20 World Cup finalists in India. West Indies will tour India following the end of their series against the Three Lions.

Following the West Indies’ white-ball tour of India in February 2022, the region will welcome England back to fight for the newly constructed Richards-Botham Trophy in a three-match Test series. This new trophy honours two cricket superstars, Lord Ian Botham and Sir Vivian Richards, whose friendship and on-field heroics became synonymous with some of their respective teams’ greatest Test match moments, according to the ECB.

We are ecstatic to be able to confirm the sites for this extended T20I and Test Series between the West Indies and England. For fans in the Caribbean and around the world, the history and rivalry between the two teams cause a lot of excitement. These matches are part of a bumper year of international home cricket in the Caribbean, which runs from January to August, according to CWI’s CEO.
