Hasan Ali, a Pakistan paceman, has joined Lancashire for a portion of the 2022 season, the English county announced on Tuesday (March 1). The 27-year-old, who has 72 Test wickets to his name, will be available for Lancashire’s first six County Championship matches, which begin next month. He’ll be following Pakistan fast-bowling great Wasim Akram to Old Trafford, where he had many successful seasons as an overseas player with Lancashire.
Hasan told Lancashire’s website, “I am really delighted about the possibility of playing county cricket in England for the first time in my career. After making my T20 international debut against England there in 2016, Emirates Old Trafford is a venue that carries particular memories for me. I’m really delighted to be following in the footsteps of Pakistan star Wasim Akram, who always speaks well of his time with Lancashire. I’m excited to join the team in April and expect to contribute significantly in the games that I play.”
“Hasan is a high-quality player with a fantastic record in first-class and Test match cricket,” said Lancashire head coach Glen Chapple. “We feel that his red-ball talents will complement our bowling assault beautifully and that his international experience will be invaluable in our dressing room.”
