IIM Bangalore, one of the leading business schools in India, has been awarded EQUIS re-accreditation for 5 years by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). The prestigious accreditation was presented to IIM Bangalore’s Director Prof Pankaj Chandra at a function organized by the EFMD. Only about 1% of all business schools globally have obtained EQUIS accreditation which makes it one of the most distinguished and reputed accreditations in the world.
With this achievement, IIM Bangalore joins the league of prestigious international business schools like London Business School, Harvard Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business, and University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, which have been accredited by EQUIS.
Why the rating systems are important?
In order to help you differentiate between various business schools and their courses, there are rating systems, like AMBA (Association of MBAs) or AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).
It is important that when a college applies for these rating systems, they show that they have high standards in terms of learning and faculty. If your university does not make it on to such accredited boards, then you should be aware that it might not be as good as other universities in your area.
This can also mean that most recruiters might skip your resume if it lacks accreditation by an appropriate board. The main point of having one or more certifications from relevant authorities is to give companies peace of mind with regards to using your service/product/competency.
Graduates who study at an EQUIS accredited school can be assured that they will receive international recognition for their qualifications, which is extremely important in today’s global environment.
