The Gurupura River (also known as Phalguni River or Kulur River) is the famous river in Mangalore. The name of the river comes to from the town Gurupura, where the river is situated. The New Mangalore Port and Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers are situated on its northern banks.
Panambur Village beside Palguni (Kulur River) is spread over 2 sq. miles, and Shree Nandaneswara Temple is one Km away from Palguni River on National Highway No. N.H. 66. The temple is situated 12 Kms away from Mangalore. It is said that Shree Nandaneshwara Temple has a History of more than 2000 years, but available evidence show that the Temple existed prior to 1300 A.D.
