With his stunning 93-run knock against Scotland in the T20 World Cup match, veteran New Zealand opener Martin Guptill etched his name into multiple record books. New Zealand reached 172/5 in 20 overs thanks to Guptill’s furious knock. During his 56-ball stay in the middle, the seasoned opener, who was going through a bad spell before the match, smacked 7 sixes and 6 fours. There was also a six that went 102 metres, which was the second-longest in the Super 12 stage.

Guptill became the second player in men’s T20Is to score 3000 runs with his 93-run innings, which included a six. In his 105th T20I match, the 35-year-old has achieved the feat. Virat Kohli was the first man to accomplish the milestone. With 3225 runs in T20Is, the Indian captain stands at the top of the list. With 3069 runs, Guptill is in second place.

The New Zealand opener also tied Rohit Sharma for the most 90-plus scores in T20I cricket. Chris Gayle, the renowned opener for the West Indies, is in second place with four 90-plus innings. Guptill became the first man to hit 150 sixes in T20Is thanks to his seven sixes in the innings. He has already hit 154 maximums in his career. With 134 points, India’s Rohit is in second place.

As the Black Caps aim to stay on track for a semi-final berth, the 35-year-old opener put on 105 for the fourth wicket with Glenn Phillips. Phillips batted well for 33 runs off 37 deliveries before being removed by Brad Wheal. The Black Caps were 70-3 at the halfway stage before Guptill hit his 18th T20 half-century off 35 balls.
