The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released a player fitness guideline, stating that if a team believes a player has joined the squad without being physically fit, the IPL will appoint an impartial doctor to arbitrate on the subject, and his or her conclusions will be obligatory.

“If a franchisee does not request an assessment of any of its players’ fitness at the start of the season (or if a player joins a franchisee after the start of the season, at the time such player joins such franchisee), each such player shall be deemed match fit in the absence of unequivocal evidence to the contrary, and any dispute between a player and BCCI as to such unequivocal evidence shall be decided by an in-house arbitrator”, according to the new guidelines and as reported by cricbuzz.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has informed the franchises that the England and West Indies players would be essentially ruled out of a few early games since the IPL is set to begin on March 27. In addition, players from outside the United States will be subjected to quarantine.
