Corporate social responsibility has become an essential part of the business world over the past few decades, and more and more companies are adopting sustainable and socially responsible practices to improve their public image, reduce risks, and increase productivity. CSR has been defined as a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model, with the aim of promoting sustainable development. But should we be teaching these values to our youth? And if so, at what age? These questions have been asked by students around the world, with no definitive answers yet available.  

What is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)?

Though companies are supposed to follow certain norms in terms of policies, people are often not aware of how social and economic activities need to change in order to meet sustainability standards. Corporate Social Responsibility is a system that helps companies to promote responsibility for their activities with respect to society, employees, and business partners. Nowadays more and more students are opting for corporate social responsibility programs. This program aims at developing students’ potential through interactive sessions by providing them exposure to different cultures, career opportunities, health, mental well-being, etc.

It increases student participation by encouraging them to take active participation in all events conducted under corporate social responsibility. It also provides numerous employment opportunities after completion of the course along with an opportunity to gain knowledge of various organizations. As per NCES (National Center for Education Statistics), there are over 693 organizations offering courses on Corporate Social Responsibility/Corporate Citizenship, including some full four-year degree programs as undergraduate degrees or minors.

The Future of Education

One major way that corporations and business schools can support a better future is by partnering with non-profits to provide opportunities for students. In doing so, they build long-term relationships with bright young minds who may one day join their organizations as employees or contribute in other ways. As time goes on, We hope to see more organizations recognize that corporate social responsibility should be an essential part of educating our youth.

Looking toward corporate social responsibility (CSR): The world has changed—and so must our education systems. Corporations have realized they can no longer hide behind competition and greed but must address global problems head-on to thrive in today’s economic environment. What better way to cultivate a generation of change-makers than through reforming school curriculums? Educational institutions must integrate corporate social responsibility (CSR) into their curriculums as a means to further strengthen our workforce, economy, and communities.
