Unmukt Chand, who has captained the U-19 World Cup-winning squad, has become the first male cricketer from India to play in the BBL. He has made his debut under Aaron Finch for the Melbourne Renegades and against the Hobart Hurricanes. He has never played with the senior Indian cricket team, but he has made his mark on the domestic circuit for more than 10 years with 67 first-class matches. He has also played in the IPL for three different franchises: Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, and Rajasthan Royals.
He made an impression at the international cricket during the U-19 World Cup 2012 in Australia, where he was named Player of the Match and scored 111 runs against the Aussies. In 2019, he shifted to Uttarakhand for a stable career but left within a year later due to issues with his performance. He then moved to the USA for better opportunities in cricket.
The Melbourne Renegades posted a tweet about Chand’s first match against Hobart and gave him a warm welcome inside the cricketing fraternity of the BBL.
